You are going to be part of team made up of professionals and amateurs. This mixture allow enthusiasts of yacht racing like you to step on an advanced racing yacht and perform at their best.
Sailing on board of Selma Racing means competing in a race and being 100% involved in action. You will be involved in all the aspects of teamwork, manoeuvres and race strategy. Our goal is that each crew member is able to make a valuable contribution to the team effort. You won’t be treated as a passenger but a crewmemeber of this unique racing crew. We want you to feel that we are making progress thanks to your commitment and attitude to racing.
Participating in pre-race training and in the race itself is a great opportunity to improve your sailing skills. But a race requires not just sailing technique or a good physical condition.
More importantly, a positive attitude, cooperative spirit and readiness to help other crew members are a must if we want to be a winning team.
We pay a big attention to make all crewmembers feel as one team. The human dimension which we call team spirit and creating a good atmosphere on board, is very important for the Selma Racing concept. This is what makes people work together, train and help each other in order to achieve any goal in sport and sailing. Being one crew is essential for us.
There will be 12 persons on board, including 3-4 professional crew (skipper, navigator, bowman).
Every person will have their position onboard assigned (e.g. trimmer, mastman, pit), and will participate in the watch system. During the race the following tasks have to be taken care of: helming, trimming the sails, dropping and hoisting sails, reefing, hiking, preparing food, all while competing and making the best out of us and the boat.
